Every now and then in my travels I hear a striking new voice on piano that makes me want to listen again immediately. Mustafa Avşar is such a voice; a great touch on piano and a completely fresh approach to harmony in his soloing that to me is the essence of good jazz, something NEW and UNIQUE! Great playing by everybody on this CD (“Acılı Pizza” jazz album), and as always a reminder of the possibilities when jazz meets the world’s music!

I observed Mustafa’s special talents as a musician. He surprised me by his talent although he didn’t take a serious piano education before. He has a marvelous keyboard touching ability and rich musicianship skill which is quiet hard to possess. He finished a two-year harmony education program in one year. I believe that he will do remarkable work in this field, if a chance is given to him.

He arose admiration with his diligent, talent and effort since he started the school on the very first the days. He gained a piano repertoire equal to an eight-to-ten year work just in four year. Also, he got appreciation not only in performing instruments but also in the field of music theory. Hence, he graduated from school with a degree.

I find him very musical, on the lessons he responded immediately to my requests. During the year he has learned and improved a lot in stylistic knowledge, in the musical expression of different European musical genres and eras. He is a clever and intelligent man and a very talented, creative musician and pianist. The sound he produces on the piano became very delicate, refined and expressive during his studies here. He can fully understand the message and intent of the composers in their compositions and interpret it on the piano expressively.

He was an excellent, diligent student. During the time spent here he has planned detailed curriculum material for a form and a harmony course to help his work in future. He has very good skills in curriculum planning and structuring educational materials. He has developed a lot in formal and harmonic analysis. He has many different great skills which can be useful in the teaching practice, like good musicianship skills and inner hearing, while he is also a very good pianist.
